RESEARCH

LEADERSHIP STUDIES

My current research in language, identity, and culture continues to evolve with the indigenization and decolonization of sustainable tourism efforts in the Arctic (Greenland) as part of the Arctic Education Alliance. These experiences have shaped my research in relationality, decolonization, and the co-production of knowledge in developing “the right relations” with Indigenous communities in the Arctic. One of my goals is to delve more deeply into intangible cultural heritage (UNESCO) in relation to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals with an emphasis on indigenization and decolonization in the Arctic. More recently, my research interests have expanded to include grassroots activism in Arctic Indigenous communities with an emphasis on the arts as spaces of resistance.

TESOL

Much of my research in the MSEd in TESOL program at the University of Southern Maine and in my current work with multilingual learners involves creating spaces of resistance to promote social justice and equity to shift the paradigms of English language teaching.
